The home page grows its own world
The first screen is now a Minecraft-style world generated from a single number — a different one on every visit.
What you are looking at
The map behind the first screen is not a picture. It grows from one number, the world seed, much the way a Minecraft world does: a height field decides where the water, beaches, forests, meadows, rock and snow go, a second field adds climate, and a third one brings the clouds. Every block is one square, drawn without smoothing.
Each visit starts from a new seed, so the world you see is almost certainly one nobody else has seen. The land drifts slowly one way, the clouds faster the other, and the clouds gather one by one after the world appears.
Make a new one
The seed is shown in the corner. Press New world next to it and a fresh one fades in without stopping the drift.
